Farmer Bracelet
Farmers are the original conservationists, working the land to provide food, fuel and fiber for the world. Farmers are always conscious of the resources they use, making sure to replenish them in order to make a living for themselves and their families. This bracelet serves as a reminder of the way our natural resources work in circles and how important it is to respect them.
Needed items to complete the bracelet-available from craft stores:
* String long enough to go around child’s wrist with enough room to tie ends
* Beads:
Large Clear - both ends of string must go through the hole in this one
Dark Blue / Green / Brown / Clear Blue / Gray / Sparkling Clear or Blue / Yellow
*Instructions to complete bracelet: Read story and put each bead on after section. Start with the clear bead, tie a knot in end after putting bead on, do each bead, put string back through clear bead at end and tie that end. You will have the clear bead to use to make bracelet smaller or larger as needed.
The Story of A Farmer
People need the Earth’s resources to complete the circle. (Clear Bead)
Water rains down, collects in lakes & streams, evaporates into clouds and rains again. (Dark Blue Bead)
Plants and Soil are necessary for growing food for animals. Animals provide food for other animals and when they die and decompose they make new soil so new plants can grow again. (Green & Brown Beads)
Daytime & Nighttime are a result of Earth’s spinning through space and it’s rotation around the Sun, providing us with the seasons (Clear Blue & Gray)
Air that we breathe is composed of oxygen & carbon dioxide. Plants take in carbon dioxide -use it to make food and give off oxygen for animals to breathe. (Sparkling Clear Bead)
The Sun provides warmth and light for all of the Earth’s cycles to continue. (Yellow Bead)
